No finish on a firearm is permanent. Hard chrome is probably the closest thing to that, but we all know chrome doesn't hide well. In comparison to the other finishes available, Cerakote is the leader in wear, saltwater, least thickness (reduces wear along with doesnt change tight critical tolerances).
